Watermark->Text Annotation

The options on this dialog define the placement of the annotation text on the generated images.

Name
The display name to identify the watermark item in the list.

Text/Macro
Enter the text manually or select the frequently used phrases from the dropdown list.
To enter more than one line of text, use the special linefeed character '\n' to separate each line. Zan Image Printer interprets the mnemonic-prefix character '&' as a directive to underscore the character that follows, and the mnemonic-prefix characters && as a directive to print a single '&'.
For example, the text line1\n\nline2\nline3 && more\nHello &World generates a watermark that appears on the image (see below):

You can embed
save macro commands to create an annotation with the current time or date, computer name, user name, etc., as well as the following file name and Bates Number macros.

Name Macro Description Example
Fully qualified file name [%file] Fully qualified image name c:\abc\img1.jpg
File name [%filename] File portion of the image name img1.jpg
Bates Number [%batesnumber] To start Bates numbering from a number, enter the number at which to start the Bates numbering in the "Start bates numbering at:" field on the Watermark dialog.
Zan Image Printer automatically increments the number after printing each page.
12
Bates Number (zero padding, width 2)  [02d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 2 08
Bates Number (zero padding, width 3)  [03d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 3 012
Bates Number (zero padding, width 4)  [04d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 4 0012
Bates Number (zero padding, width 5)  [05d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 5 00012
Bates Number (zero padding, width 6)  [06d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 6 000012
Bates Number (zero padding, width 7)  [07d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 7 0000012
Bates Number (zero padding, width 8)  [08d%batesnumber] pad with 0s, width 8 00000012

Font Settings
You can specify the following font settings:
Font used for the text annotation.
Text style to use for the annotation (Bold, Italic, Strikeout, Underline).
Color to be used for the text (click to choose from the default color palette, or specify RGB values).
Font size in points for the text annotation.

Angle
Sets the rotation angle (counter-clockwise, 0-360).

Opacity
Specify a watermark opacity percentage (0-100).
A value of 0 means the watermark appears behind the page content.
A value of 100 means the watermark appears in front of the page content.

Position
Use this to specify the position of the text annotation. The value is in the form "X,Y" in pixel coordinates relative to the top-left corner of the image. Position can also take one of the following predefined options relative to an image edge, and center, without the user needing to specify the actual pixel offset of the watermark:
  • Top Left - top left corner

  • Top - center of the top

  • Top Right - right top corner

  • Left - left edge

  • Center - center

  • Right - right edge

  • Bottom Left - bottom left corner

  • Bottom - center of the bottom

  • Bottom Right - bottom right corner

  • To define a custom position, select the "Offset in pixels" or "Offset in percentage" from the dropdown list.
    X Offset
Horizontal offset (in pixels or percentage) of the watermark relative to the left side of image.

    Y Offset
Vertical offset (in pixels or percentage) of the watermark relative to the top of image.

    Page Range
You can specify a single page, range of pages, or a predefined set of pages which each watermark will be applied to.
To specify the page range, enter the beginning and ending page numbers (for example, 1,2,5-10, 20-end). Pages can be separated with a comma to define individual pages or a hyphen to define a range of pages.
The predefined options include All Pages, First Page, Odd Pages, Even Pages, Separator Page (start), or Separator Page (end).
Separator Page (start): causes a separator page to be printed at the start of each print job.
Separator Page (end): causes a separator page to be printed at the end of each print job. You can specify the [%sentinel] macro as the watermark text to insert the contents of the sentinel file into the end separator page.

The following restrictions apply to the Separator Page (start) and Separator Page (end) options:
  • They are valid only for TIFF/PDF images specified with the "One multi-page" or "Append to existing file" file mode setting.
  • If the watermark's Text field is left blank, a blank separator page is inserted.
  • Sub-string matching is used for range matching. A range is considered to be valid as long as it contains the sub-string Separator Page (start) or Separator Page (end) in it. For example, Separator Page (start), Separator Page (end), Separator Page (start) 1, Separator Page (end) 2 are all valid ranges for separator pages.
  • You can insert multiple separator pages. If the range of the current watermark is the same as the previous one, the watermark is rendered on the existing separator page. If it is not, a new separator page is started.

  • For example, if you have created 6 watermarks in the watermark list, and you specify the Ranges for them as follows:
watermark 1: Separator Page (end) 1
watermark 2: Separator Page (end) 1
watermark 3: Separator Page (end) 2
watermark 4: Separator Page (end) 3
watermark 5: Separator Page (end) 4
watermark 6: Separator Page (end) 4

Then you will have 4 end separator pages created for the image:
separator page 1: have watermark 1 and watermark 2 on it
separator page 2: have watermark 3 on it
separator page 3: have watermark 4 on it
separator page 4: have watermark 5 and watermark 6 on it
If you want watermark 1~6 to all be shown on one end separator page, set the Range for all watermarks to be Separator Page (end).
