Email->SMTP Settings

Display Name
The name that is sent to the Email recipient to tell them who it's from.
Your Email provider may not allow you to change the display name because of phishing and security concerns.

Email Address
Specifies the Sender (From) Email address.
Your Email provider may not allow you to change the Sender (From) Email address because of phishing and security concerns.

Authentication Method
Authentication allows the Email client to validate its identity with the SMTP Email server by sending the user's username and password to the SMTP server.
Zan Image Printer supports the following SMTP authentication methods:
  • None: No authentication is used.
  • CRAM MD5: Use CRAM-MD5 authentication. CRAM-MD5 stands for challenge response authentication mechanism based on HMAC-MD5 MAC algorithm.
  • AUTH LOGIN: Login authentication method (log in using base64 encoded password and username).
  • AUTH PLAIN: Plaintext authentication method.
  • NTLM: Microsoft's NTLM authentication method. Authentication (except NTLM and None) requires the account name and password to be set.
  • Auto Detect: This will automatically detect which authentication methods the SMTP server supports and use the most secure method available.

  • User Name
    SMTP authentication user name.

    Password
SMTP authentication password. The password is encrypted before saving.

    Server Name
Specifies the SMTP server by IP address or name. Some common SMTP Email servers are:
    smtp.gmail.com
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    mail.gmx.com
    mail.hotmail.com
    smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
    smtp.email.msn.com
    smtp.comcast.net
    mail.bellsouth.net

Your Email provider will tell you which SMTP server to specify. If you have trouble connecting to a server, contact your Email hosting provider. Or you can debug/monitor the SMTP communications using a free network protocol analyzer such as Wireshark.

    Note:
Not all Email providers offer free SMTP service.
Email providers can withdraw their SMTP service at any time.
Email providers can change their SMTP server settings (e.g., SMTP server address, port, SMTP authentication method, use SSL) at any time.
Many Email providers have specified limits. For example, some specify that a user can have no more than 100 recipients per Email message, can only send a maximum of 500 Emails per hour, can send Emails to no more than 1,000 recipients per day, can only send a maximum of 10MB per message, and others.
If you have trouble connecting to a server, contact your Email hosting provider.

    Port Number
Specifies SMTP server port number, default 25.
Many Email providers have blocked the traditional SMTP port 25 to prevent spam from being sent through their Email servers and require that the customers use port 587 instead.

    SMTP over SSL
Make secure connection to SSL (Secure Socket Layer) enabled SMTP server. The SMTP SSL port is 465.

    Encoding
Encoding for the Email message (headers and body).

    Message Priority
Indicate the priority/importance of the Email message, you can set this to None, Low, Normal, or High. The recipient's Email client will in some way indicate the importance you assigned to the Email (for example, a red exclamation point for high priority and a blue down arrow for low priority).

Create ZIP archive to send Email attachments
Select this check box to package the generated files into a ZIP file and send it as an Email attachment.

    MDN
Generates a read receipt to the original sender when an Email message is opened by the recipient. The recipient must have an Email program that supports the Message Disposition Notification (MDN) standard.
When the sender has requested a receipt, the following dialog appears on top of the opened message in the recipient's e-mail client:

Delete the original images after the Email is sent
Select this option to delete the saved files after sending the Email.

    Maximum attachment size
The maximum size of attachments in MB. It is generally not a good idea to send large Email attachments. A lot of Email Servers cannot cope with messages larger than a few MB in size.
To send Email without attachments, set the Maximum attachment size to 0.

    Help
Loads the help file, and displays the Email->SMTP Settings topic.
